Presidents Message

2009-09-11 10:52:57, Category, Chris Houston, Comments

Your KWMBSA Executive is hard at work again preparing for the 2010 Season.

This year we are striving to maintain our forward thinking progression while balancing our focus on ‘getting back to the basics’.

This year we are devoted to increasing the awareness of respect and camaraderie on both sides of the field. As your President, I call upon each and every one of you to “step-to-the-plate” and prove why we are one of the top sports communities in Canada.

Continuing this year are many of the initiatives set forth over the past few years:
• We opened our concession during our 40th anniversary celebration. There was great enthusiasm by both the association members as well as the local community. Once again this year, we are planning this mid-season spectacular. Join us during our Player’s Choice Tournament weekend … You will not be disappointed.
• Our website continues to be a focal point for our communications. We are continuing our efforts in its development and delivery of all our important information for players, coaches, umpires and parents. This interactive portal continues as the key resource for everything to do with our Association - clinics, schedules, forms, contacts, standings, clothing sales … Visit us often at http://www.kwmbsa.ca.
• Our skills clinics program for players of all ages and levels, coordinated in collaboration with the KMGSA and WMGSA. They are a great way to get rid of those cobwebs and hone your softball smarts for the upcoming season. Check the website for dates and times.
• Our program to recruit and train new umpires through a series of in class and practical clinics was another success last year. So much so, we opted to hold a Level 1 clinic this year. Join us – tell your friends.
• Our retail clothing and accessory line continues to spur excitement. Keep your eyes on our website for the latest in promotional gear to add to your wardrobe – support your association by proudly donning our logo.
• Meet-and-greet fundraisers - Our annual golf tournament, Association dinners at Barnes Restaurant, the Player’s Choice Summer fest in July, and prospects for video dance parties … all these and more will be announced through our website. Keep an eye out for the fun.
We are actively pursuing new ways to involve everyone. Volunteer and support initiatives are under way. We do need your help. Get involved and Support our Youth.

Thank you to all, volunteers, parents and players, your support is greatly appreciated!
~ MAY YOUR PLAY BE FUN AND YOUR FUN BE PLAYING ~
All my best in the upcoming 2010
Season,

Chris Houston

Volunteer Coordinator urgently needed for KWMBSA

2009-09-01 12:37:14, Category, Gary Baker, Comments

KWMBSA has a vacant Executive position; this is the Volunteer Coordinator.

This person will coordinate volunteers to help at our new concession building at Wilson Park and at Friday Night Bingos.

The concession booth helps to raise money for the association as well as providing refreshments and food for our players and families on game nights and tournament weekends.

There are many people who are willing to help but are unable to take on the role of Coordinator. Other Executive members will be available to help guide you through the position.

Please consider taking on this important and rewarding role for the Association.

If you are interested please contact President

Chris Houston.

Interested in playing Rep Ball???

Rep Ball is a competitive level of ball which plays in the North Waterloo League. Half of the games are played at home while the other half are played in nearby surrounding communities. Rep teams also play in tournaments throughout Ontario including qualifiers and provincials. The season runs from the beginning of May to mid August.

We are starting our gym practises to get ready for the season. If you are interested in playing ball at the Rep level, please register accordingly online at our website. If interested but have more questions, please feel free to contact Gilles Butcher.
