On November 23rd, 2010, two of our own (Dave and Denyse Macdonald) were recognized at the annual Kitchener Sports Association Volunteer of the Year Dinner. The event featured guest speaker Dennis McPhee (Head Football Coach for the University of Waterloo) and was once again hosted by special MC, "The Voice and Choice of the Kitchener Rangers", Don Cameron.

Together, Dave & Denyse have helped our organization in countless ways.

Along with score keeping for 13 years, Denyse served on the KWMBSA executive for the past 5 years. Two of those years as Fundraising Chair where she ran the chocolate fundraising and coordinated two successful Yuk Yuks comedy nights, along with the responsibility of the retail and fundraising clothing line. She spent two years as Director of Media Relations where she put together the newsletter and distributed it during tournament weekends. In her last year on the executive, she held the role of “Fields and Schedules” for our house and rep league, where she did all the bookings with the City of Waterloo and Kitchener as well as scheduling the clinics and indoor practices.

Dave volunteered as coach for 13 years. He also served on the executive for the past 5 years, holding the role of Equipment Manager for 4 and serving as VP this past year. Dave was instrumental in running our annual golf tournament and organized an annual players vs. coaches game for the past 5 years.

Both Dave & Denyse spent many hours on tournament weekends helping out, handing out trophies, serving food at the concession and anything else they were needed for. They are always very helpful and willing to pass along their knowledge about the organization to newer executives. We’re very grateful for the many years they’ve given to the KWMBSA. Thank you both!
