Brendan Roach of our KW Twins Fastball Club is the 2010 recipient of the Shawn Kempel Award as the most valuable player for the midget rep division of the KWMBSA. Brendan was chosen for his leadership and commitment to the team on and off the diamond. Brendan played a key role in leading the KW Midget Twins to their second straight North Waterloo League Championship, a 8th place finish at the OASA Midget Eliminations, and a Bronze medal finish at the ISC under 19 Championships in Midland, Michigan. Brendan was also a valuable addition to the Walkerton Wild Midget Club who won the Canadian Midget Boys Fastball Championship this past August in Stratford.

Brendan has now completed his minor fastball career having played 11 years of rep ball in the Twin Cities. In recent years he has also been a valuable instructor at youth player clinics as well as a premier pitcher for his division in our region. Congratulations go out to Brendan for this crowning achievement to his fine minor ball career.

The Shawn Kempel Award was first presented by the Waterloo Minor Fastball Association in memory of their midget player, Shawn Kempel who passed away suddenly during the summer of his midget ball season. The award is now presented annually to the KWMBSA's most valuable player for their midget rep division.
