Johnny Baker of the KW Bantam Kolts has ben awarded the Andy Beaver Trophy as the most valuable player for the Bantam rep division of the KWMBSA during the 2010 fastball season. Johnny was the lead pitcher and three spot hitter as he lead his club to a silver in the OA Ontario Eliminations in Mitchell, ON a silver in the North Waterloo League Championships in Tavistock and a bronze at the Eastern Canadian Softball Championships in St. Leonard-d'Aston, PQ. He proved to be a team leader when at bat, when on the mound or playing a defensive position in the infield. Johnny earned respect from his team mates, coaches and opposition for his dedication and enthusiasm for the game. He has also served the KWMBSA by working as an instructor at Association spring clinics. It is hoped Johnny will return to play with the Bantam Kolts again next summer.

The Andy Beaver Award was first awarded to a Waterloo Minor Fastball player in 1991. When the KMBSA and WMFA merged in 2008 the award was taken over by the KWMBSA. Mack Reid was the first Bantam Kolt to receive the award in 2008. Andy Beaver was a talented ball player for the Waterloo Bantam rep team when he was tragically killed with his father in a car accident returning from a fishing trip in the summer of '91. The trophy is presented annually in his honour to the recognized most valuable player on the local rep Bantam teams.
